State Representative Tony Shipley (R-Kingsport) will be hosting 12 artists from Kingsport next week in conjunction with the annual “Arts Advocacy Day on the Hill”. The artists will exhibit their artwork in the Legislative Plaza from 8:00 to 2:00 on Tuesday, March 9th, followed by “Arts Advocacy Day” on Wednesday, March 10th. The Governor and his wife, Constitutional Officers, all Legislators, area artists and art advocates, as well as gallery owners, are invited to visit this special exhibit.

“We have a vibrant arts community in the Kingsport area, and I am proud to support these and all artists from home. We have a wealth of talent to promote in Tennessee,” said Shipley.  “This is a special exhibit at a time when we are advocating the arts in Tennessee, and I am honored to host our very own artists from Kingsport. Art impacts our lives in many ways, as it touches and inspires us to do great things. We should endeavor to nurture the creative spirit in our youth. I highly commend our Cultural Arts Director, Bonnie MacDonald, for inspiring new initiatives in the arts community of Kingsport.”

The artists attending the special Kingsport Artist Exhibit are: Ruth Crowe, Leslie Davis, Sheryl Tucker Daniels, Judy Grover, Kathy Hawk, Tony Henson, Suzanne Barrett Justis, Mark Ray, Michael Ripper, Cindy Saadeh, John Schramlin, and Jeffrey Stoner. The exhibits will be set up in the Legislative Plaza (near the Capitol escalators).
