Grammy Nomination, Rick Vito

By JeffStamper on December 31, 2009

Early December sees the announcement of Grammy nominees each year. This month, The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band featuring Nashville guitarist Rick Vito received a Grammy nod for Blue Again in the category of Best Traditional Blues Album. Rick Vito’s recording and performing résumé is as good as it gets. He has done session work with the likes of Dolly Parton, Little Richard, Bob Seger, and Jackson Browne, to name a few. Vito joined Fleetwood Mac in 1987. His current work with Mick Fleetwood met instant success. Vito claims, “I am so honored that our CD, Blue Again, has received a Grammy nomination. Mick and I wanted to both revisit some of the classic blues-rock of the original Fleetwood Mac, which was very much a blues band, and also bridge the gap into today’s music world with my original songs. The recording captured the magic of a live show where the energy and performances are real and exciting. This nomination validates that our concept was a good one.” The Mick Fleetwood Band was profiled in the July issue of Nashville Arts Magazine.
