Spotlight | Interior Design in Green Hills

By NashvilleArtsTeam on March 1, 2010

Sophisticated style, art treasures from around the world, and sublime appointments create a wonderful setting in this Green Hills home. Every piece of furniture, artwork, and hardware has been especially chosen for this spacious residence. Designed by the esteemed designers of Smythe & Cortlandt, this superb blend of contemporary, traditional and the unique conjures up visions of fabulous homes usually found in Santa Monica, South Beach, or New York.

Open and airy, the kitchen, living, and dining areas all intertwine seamlessly and feature unusual design statements such as the iron garden statuary found in the dining room.

The designers are known for creating exquisite Utopian spaces for an impressive array of clients. Exquisite Barbara Barry light fixtures tame soaring ceilings. Masters of color, pattern and texture, the team possesses a keen eye for functionality, with an end result being a mercurial combination of style, elegance, whimsy, and the eclectic.

From a Jackson Pollock-esque piece hung above butter-soft McGuire sofas in the media room to the incredible indigenous African basket installation in the breakfast area, each piece has been collected over time and carefully selected to create inspiring living space. The home contains several custom-designed rugs fashioned from ancestral carpets and others from Turkey that contain only the natural colors of sheep’s wool.

Full of the highest quality materials, the bedrooms and baths are sleek. A generous master suite is located on the first floor, and the downstairs powder room features an embossed leather wall. Of particular note is the set of rattan furniture on the screened-in porch, which was once used on President Roosevelt’s private yacht.

The house is available completely furnished. For more information about this property contact agent Ben Wilson at (615) 773-9700.
