September celebrates the 6th Annual Whitland Home Tour. The historic neighborhood just south of West End Avenue opens its doors to visitors September 25–26. The homes boast a rich history of early-twentieth-century architecture fitted with contemporary grace and charm. The neighborhood was founded on the estate of the former Peach Blossom Plantation. Adding to local interest, the original owner and builder of Peach Blossom was killed in a duel with none other than Andrew Jackson. More recently, in the age of Hollywood glamour, Whitland was the proud home of Dinah Shore and Dawn Wells.
Home Tour admission and tickets can be purchased at any of the open homes on the days of the tour for $15 or two for $25. Tickets for children under 12 are $8. For more information visit whitlandhometour.org.
