Peter Callesen | International Paper Cut

Peter Callesen is a Danish philosopher who also happens to be a contemporary artist. In examining the works of his career, it is clear that Callesen is consumed with a search for answers to profound subjects. In performance art, sculpture, drawings, and paper cutouts he has become an artist of international repute for both his overt and subtle ponderings on the meaning of life, death, creation, destruction, and the fundamental purpose of human existence. Callesen longs for dialogue and discussion, and his past studies in art as well as architecture enable him to think and express himself in many dimensions and configurations. Like Gabriel Marcel before him who coined the term “existentialism,” Callesen expresses wonder and astonishment at the world around him.
