Belcourt Anime Fest
Castles in the Sky: Miyazaki, Takahata and the Masters of Studio Ghibli is a travelling series of anime classics that will visit major cities across the United States. Nashville is the only stop in the Southeast for this artistic and family-friendly event. The Belcourt Theatre welcomes 15 iconic Japanese animation films from Studio Ghibli, nicknamed the Disney of Japan. Viewers can watch Castles in the Sky (which helped inspire James Cameron’s Avatar), My Neighbor Totoro, and the breathtaking, Oscar-winning Spirited Away. These popular standards have changed the course of contemporary design, animation, fashion, and fine art (think Takashi Murakami). Watch them on new 35mm prints, with many films available in subtitled and English versions.
