Expert Opinion
by Anna Chappell, Summer Camp Manager and Teaching Assistant, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts
The Frist Center welcomes a new exhibition this month, showcasing work by British landscape painter John Constable. Known for his airy clouds and scenes of lush greenery, Constable represents all things landscape. The exhibition comes to Nashville from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, which houses the
majority of Constable’s work. Frist visitors have the opportunity to hear Mark Evans, chief curator of paintings at the London museum, speak on June 22. Evans will discuss Constable’s philosophy of landscape painting, its history, and the reactions of his contemporary critics.
The events are free with admission and will be held in the auditorium. They are first-come, first-seated.
