Don’t miss the original musical “If I Were You” this summer at The Theater Bug! Written by Cori Anne Laemmel and Laura Matula, the show explores the challenges and nuances of growing up and how individual experiences of youth can be so different yet so similar.
The musical follows four young characters of varying ages who share one thing in common: they all have the same birthday. As their stories unfold over the course of two acts, the actors briefly switch roles; for example, an 18-year-old young man plays the part and experiences the life of a 15-year-old girl. These discrepancies challenge the audience to examine their own feelings of empathy and how they relate to these characters as they are portrayed by different actors.
The show features 70 young actors ranging in age from six to 18, and performances will run from July 13th-Aug 5 every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7PM at The Theater Bug, 4809 Gallatin Pike. Tickets can be purchased here for $10 or at the door for $12.
