Aaron Rothman: The Far Field
June 26 – September 12
Aaron Rothman is concerned with the experience of seeing – not only the objects seen, but exploring how the experience is dependent on the quality of light, the perception of space, and one’s awareness of time. His photographs and site-specific installations offer this perspective in beautiful documentations and orchestrations of light and the environment, encouraging viewers to slow down and pay closer attention.
For Cheekwood, Rothman will create a special project that responds to the Temporary Contemporary gallery itself, the estate’s natural landscape, and the experience of the place through the seasons. Rothman lives in Phoenix, Arizona, and was Head of the Photography Department at the Memphis College of Art from 2003-2006.
Exhibition organized by guest curator, Claire Schneider
