Gordon Jewish Community Center | Tuesday, May 9 – Tuesday, June 6
A merging of the visual and physical arts begins on May 9, 2017 at the Gordon Jewish Community Center. The Fashion of Dance will not only showcase headpieces, sets, and a variety of costumes from classics like the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and other well-loved ballets, courtesy of the archives of Centennial Youth Ballet and Vanderbilt University ballet instructor Jennifer McNamara, but features paintings of dancers and their world, as well. The exhibit allows visitors of all ages to access the wonders of dance through multiple art forms and allows each viewer to enter the fantasy that is ballet.
While exploring the beauty of the designs and artwork, guests at the opening night will be treated to wine, music, a pop-up shop from Metro Parks Dance Division, and more. The Fashion of Dance is also hosting a special luncheon on May 18, featuring the Centennial Youth Ballet dancers and a post-performance discussion.
